How to restore deleted text messages on Android

We’ve all been here before. All of us have, at one point or another, accidentally deleted an important text. Gloria, from Chepachet, Rhode Island, reached out to us with this question:

“I accidentally deleted a text message; how can I get it back on my Android phone?”

We’re sorry to hear that you’ve accidentally deleted a text message. The ability to recover it depends on several factors, including your phone model, whether a backup was made and the specific messaging app you’re using. Here are some general methods you can try. (iPhone users, follow these tips.)

7 THINGS GOOGLE JUST ANNOUNCED THAT ARE WORTH KEEPING AN EYE ON

Gloria, hopefully, we were able to help you restore the missing Android message. Regularly backing up your data to prevent future data loss is always a good idea. If you have an Android smartphone, I strongly recommend using Google Drive to back up your phone; that way, you can always access the backup within your Google account. If you can’t find your deleted messages in your phone’s trash bin or recycling bin, don’t panic. You can still most likely get any deleted data back with a third-party program, but check any program’s features before paying.

Have you ever experienced significant data loss? What lessons did you learn from that experience? Let us know by writing us at Cyberguy.com/Contact.

Nicole Eggert admits ‘Baywatch’ wasn’t the glamorous job it appeared to be

Nicole Eggert made a surprising revelation about her days starring in the iconic TV series “Baywatch.”

For over a decade, fans around the world tuned in to watch the show’s team of red swimsuit-clad lifeguards run in slow motion down California’s sun-soaked beaches. While the weather on “Baywatch” appeared idyllic, Eggert, 52, told Fox News Digital that in reality, she and her co-stars frequently endured frigid temperatures during filming.

“The cold days you have — the bad always outweighs the good,” she said with a laugh when asked what she remembered most about her time on “Baywatch.”

Eggert continued, “So, it was like being on the beach is the most amazing job in the world. But the cold days, the freezing days, the days getting rained out and you have to be in the ocean — you’re going, ‘What did I sign up for? What did I do?’”

‘BAYWATCH’ ACTRESS NICOLE EGGERT DISCLOSES ‘ROUGH’ CANCER DIAGNOSIS: ‘WHO’S GOING TO COVER THE BILLS’

“You know, fighting hypothermia. Like just trying to find a dry towel anywhere,” she added. “Those were really hard moments.”

The actress — who is currently battling cancer — played lifeguard Summer Quinn on two seasons of “Baywatch” from 1992 to 1994. The beach drama series, which ran from 1989 to 2001, featured an ensemble cast that included David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Michael Newman, Alexandra Paul, Jeremy Jackson, Gregory Alan Williams, David Chokachi, Parker Stevenson, Geena Lee Nolan, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, David Charvet and Yasmine Bleeth among others.

“Baywatch” was primarily filmed at Santa Monica’s Will Rogers State Beach, though some scenes were shot in Long Beach and Malibu. In season 10, the show was retitled “Baywatch: Hawaii,” with the production moving to the islands from 1999 to 2001.

“Baywatch” premiered in 1989, but the show was canceled by NBC after one season due to low ratings and high production costs. However, “Baywatch” found new life through syndication and went on to become a ratings juggernaut and a cultural phenomenon.

At the height of its popularity, the series was the most-watched show in the world, drawing 1.1 billion viewers per week, according to Forbes.

The success of “Baywatch” spawned the spin-off series “Baywatch Nights” as well as three direct-to-video movies, including “Baywatch the Movie: Forbidden Paradise,” “Baywatch: White Thunder at Glacier Bay” and “Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.”

In 2017, “Baywatch” was adapted into a feature film of the same name, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario with Hasselhoff and Anderson reprising their original roles. The movie was a box office hit, raking in $177.9 million in ticket sales worldwide.

Last March, Fox Entertainment and “Baywatch’s” production company Fremantle announced a TV reboot of the show, with Lara Olsen serving as the series’ writer and showrunner.

While speaking with the Los Angeles Daily News, Eggert, a former child actor who had recurring roles in the police drama “T.J. Hooker” and the sitcom “Who’s the Boss” and starred in the sitcom “Charles in Charge,” explained why she had decided to leave “Baywatch” after its fourth season.

“I needed to grow up and kind of work on myself,” she said. “At the time, for my own happiness, I just needed to take some downtime.”

During her interview with Fox News Digital, Eggert shared her thoughts on how celebrity life in the ’90s differs from star culture today.

‘BAYWATCH’ STAR NICOLE EGGERT DEBUTS SHAVED HEAD AFTER CANCER DIAGNOSIS

“I think the word ‘celebrity’ is used much more loosely now,” she said. “It encompasses so much more, should I say.”

“And celebrity has its funny things, because the ’90s is now nostalgic again,” Eggert continued. “So, it’s actually fun, because people are excited to think about ’90s actors and actresses and people that they watched.”

“So, it’s a fun time right now because the 90s are cool again, so it’s good for me,” she added with a laugh.

Eggert recently produced the Hulu docuseries “Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” which examined how the show became an international sensation and the ups and downs the actors faced after suddenly rising to fame. According to Hulu, the docuseries features never-before-seen home videos and interviews with over 35 cast members and creators.

While producing “Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” Eggert was facing a major health crisis after being diagnosed with Stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in December 2023.

In an August interview with People magazine, Eggert said that working on the docuseries and raising her 12-year-old daughter Keegan have motivated her in her cancer battle.

“Having a young daughter and having this project has been a great motivation for me to not just sit and think about my health and my wellbeing,” Eggert, who is also mother to daughter Dilyn, 25, told the outlet.

“It’s giving me purpose,” she added. “It’s keeping me driven every day. I think the timing of life is always for a reason. It’s been a great distraction, and my daughters kept me on my toes.”

After receiving her diagnosis, Eggert underwent a mastectomy. The actress completed chemotherapy earlier this year and recently started her radiation therapy.

While speaking with Fox News Digital, Eggert shared that her “Baywatch” co-stars had extended their support during her health struggles. She noted that she was “in the middle of shooting “Baywatch: Moment in the Sun” while undergoing treatment, and many of her cast members made appearances in the docuseries.

“So, I was very much in touch with most of the cast,” she said. “Almost all of the cast. And, yes, many of them have been extremely supportive and reached out. Alexandra Paul, Brande Roderick, Gina Lee, Erika Eleniak . . . David Chokachi, these are people that really kind of check on me and make sure I’m OK. And it’s lovely.”

The actress also reflected on the advice that she would give her younger self.

“I would tell my younger self to not be so scared of life — to just really go out and enjoy things more,” she said. “You got nothing to lose. Go live life, you know?”

She continued, “I spent so many years just scared and holding things in and covering up for things and pretending like everything was okay. And you don’t have to do that. You don’t have to do that.”

“It feels so good to face the darkness and bring that darkness into light and just enjoy yourself. It’s not that serious,” she added.

“We’re only here for a short time. I really just wish I had started having this much fun sooner.”

Former President Jimmy Carter remembered and praised as a humanitarian around the world

World leaders from across the globe are expressing their sincere condolences as the U.S. mourns the death of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100 on Sunday.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel took to X to give his commiserations in the wake of Carter’s death, writing, “Condolences to the people and government of the United States, especially to the family and loved ones of President James Carter. Our people will remember with gratitude his efforts to improve relations, his visits to Cuba and his statement in favor of the freedom of the (Cuban) Five.”

In his one term in the White House, Carter struck the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, helped take the world further from nuclear proliferation with the second Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT), signed the Panama Canal Treaties, which ended a century of direct American control over the crucial canal, and deregulated the nation’s airline industry.

JIMMY CARTER, 39TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, DEAD AT 100

Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his efforts to find peaceful solutions when dealing with international conflicts, leaving many world leaders to applaud his work promoting economic and social development as well as human rights.

“We express our heartfelt condolences to the American people and to the family of former US President Jimmy Carter on his passing. He was a leader who served during a time when Ukraine was not yet independent, yet his heart stood firmly with us in our ongoing fight for freedom. We deeply appreciate his steadfast commitment to Christian faith and democratic values, as well as his unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unprovoked aggression. He devoted his life to promoting peace in the world and defending human rights. Today, let us remember: peace matters, and the world must remain united in standing against those who threaten these values. May his memory be eternal,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Long-time allies of the U.S. the Royal Family’s King Charles also took to social media to express his sorrow.

“It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of former President Carter. He was a committed public servant, and devoted his life to promoting peace and human rights. His dedication and humility served as an inspiration to many, and I remember with great fondness his visit to the United Kingdom in 1977. My thoughts and prayers are with President Carter’s family and the American people at this time.”

JIMMY, ROSALYNN CARTER’S HABITAT FOR HUMANITY LEGACY WILL CONTINUE, ORGANIZATION SAYS

Carter died at his home in Georgia surrounded by his family.

“My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love,” said Chip Carter, the former president’s son. “My brothers, sister, and I shared him with the rest of the world through these common beliefs. The world is our family because of the way he brought people together, and we thank you for honoring his memory by continuing to live these shared beliefs.”

Jayden Daniels orchestrates game-winning drive in overtime to send Commanders to playoffs

A Sunday night overtime thriller unfolded in the nation’s capital, and playoff implications were riddled throughout the battle between the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders.

While this one came down to the wire, the Commanders were victorious with a 30-24 win over the Falcons to earn their spot in the postseason.

The Commanders improved to 11-5 on the year, giving them a playoff spot as a wild card team.

Meanwhile, the Falcons head into Week 18 needing a win and a Buccaneers loss to secure the NFC South – their only chance at reaching the playoffs as other teams hold better records.

As noted, extra time was needed for this contest, but the reason behind it was a true rookie moment for Michael Penix Jr., the Falcons’ eighth overall pick who went up against the Commanders’ No. 2 overall pick in Jayden Daniels.

All season long, Daniels cemented himself as an Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner, making tremendous plays to put Washington in the position to reach the playoffs.

JIMMY CARTER, FORMER US PRESIDENT, REMEMBERED IN SPORTS WORLD AFTER DEATH

But Penix, in the second start of his young career, found himself down a touchdown with less than five minutes to play in the fourth quarter and a playoff spot on the line.

Penix capped a surgical drive on fourth-and-goal with a 13-yard strike in between multiple Commanders defenders to find tight end Kyle Pitts, which tied the game after the extra point went through the uprights.

After a three-and-out by Daniels and the Commanders’ offense, who had a chance at a game-winning drive, Penix and the Falcons had just over one minute to try to get into field goal range for Riley Patterson.

They came very close after Penix found Darnell Mooney for a 25-yard pickup that got them near midfield. However, on third-and-5 from the Atlanta 49-yard line, a pass from Penix to Mooney resulted in defensive pass interference, which allowed Patterson to at least try a 56-yarder for the win.

The ensuing kick was on line, but it didn’t have enough leg as it landed in the back of the end zone to force overtime.

But as Penix had his rookie moment, Daniels added yet another game-winning drive to his resume after winning the coin flip and keeping the ball from Atlanta.

Just as Daniels did against the Philadelphia Eagles last week, he drove downfield in 12 plays using his arms and legs, killing 7:18 of overtime clock to eventually find himself third-and-goal from the Atlanta two-yard line.

Daniels dropped back to pass and lasered the ball to Zach Ertz, his trusty tight end, whose second touchdown of the night was the game-winner.

Daniels finished the game with 227 passing yards with three touchdowns and one interception, while rushing for a game-high 127 yards on 16 carries.

Olamide Zaccheaus was the first touchdown scorer for Washington, and he led the team with 85 yards on eight receptions. Ertz finished with 72 yards on six catches.

For the Falcons, Penix ended the night 19-for-35 for 223 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Drake London was the game’s top receiver with 106 yards on seven catches.

Bijan Robinson also had 90 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns.

Pat McAfee torches Colts following bad loss to Giants, elimination from playoff hunt

Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee scorched his old team on Sunday after watching them get eliminated from playoff contention in a loss to the New York Giants.

Indianapolis had three turnovers and allowed four Drew Lock touchdown passes in the 45-33 defeat. The Colts dropped to 7-9 on the season and were officially out of contention.

McAfee wrote a scathing post on X, criticizing the organization, ripping those who tried to get him “booed out of the city” and announcing he will not renew his season tickets.

“A blind person could see the red flags on this team.. Work ethic questions, NEVER happens on good teams.. Preparation commitment questions, NEVER happens on good teams.. Late to meetings, NEVER happens on good teams.. Late to/skipping treatment, NEVER happens on good teams.. The franchise QB (Anthony Richardson) tapped out of a game.. on 3rd down.. in the red zone.. because he was tired… NEVER HAPPENED in the history of the NFL,” McAfee wrote.

“That’s literally the only thing you need to tell someone (who knows ball) and they could tell you everything about this team…”

He wrote that if a franchise quarterback left in the middle of a game because he was tired, the “immediate response” would be that the team has “no chance.”

“And to the surprise of nobody.. that was the response by everybody who’s ever played/coached the game before but.. Colts blogs and fans who have been covering the Colts since 2020 and more recent knew better than everybody… Started personally attacking me and trying to kick me out of town,” McAfee continued.

BAKER MAYFIELD’S 5 TOUCHDOWNS KEEP BUCS’ PLAYOFF HOPES ALIVE IN WIN OVER PANTHERS

“When I said Joe Flacco gives us a better chance to win than AR immediately after the tap out.. I would’ve said whatever backup QB we had on the roster. That can’t be what the face of your team is doing.. just can’t be.. and to a bigger aspect of it all, somehow AR thought it was ok to do that. That’s a locker room issue.. that’s a culture issue.. thats an indicator of a loser attitude radiating thru a building that was built by greats.

“I have no idea how they fix it.. I don’t think it’s like a light switch. “Alright, we’re gonna become Pros now” but… maybe it is, but what do I know?

“Oh wait….. how this was all gonna work out. I knew that.”

McAfee added that he wouldn’t be renewing his season tickets and hoped the team returned to its winning ways.

“As a multiple year season ticket holder (not renewing).. and someone who has actively, daily, attempted to be an additive to this beautiful city. I hope they become a good franchise again.. this city deserves it.. the OGs in the Colts building deserve it (equipment managers, trainers, ticketing, PR, sales).. and on the flip side the players/coaches in that building deserve whatever happens to them. Your unwarranted arrogance, laziness, and lack of professionalism has lead you to ANOTHER early vacation… which is probably what most of you entitled bums have been hoping for.

“I don’t speak for the city.. and I don’t speak for all ex Colts players because I was only a punter.. nominated for the HOF 3 times now but nonetheless.. I speak from my own perspective.. I’ve never seen a group waste opportunities/talent/money more than this group.”

McAfee was a two-time Pro Bowl punter with the Colts from 2009 to 2016.
